Skunk Control
In some cases repellents will work; in extreme cases trapping may be your only option. Once removed, the odor can be eliminated.
As stated above, Skunks are nocturnal. If you find turf uprooted and thrown around the yard, it could be a skunk. Other animals that may do this include armadillo, raccoon and opossum. To stop the skunk from digging in your yard for food, you will need to reduce the local insect and grub levels.
If you have skunks active around the perimeter of the home or under a porch, deck or other area adjacent to the house, repellents should be considered.
Trapping is another option in Skunk control. This is a delicate process and extra care should be exercised when attempting this. Once trapped, call your local animal control office to have the animal removed. You may be able to destroy it yourself or relocate it. Keep in mind skunk can carry rabies so don't handle it. If it is relocated, be sure to take it at least 15 miles away to insure it won't return. Once the animal has been removed, there may be some smells that linger. Skunk smell is persistent; one generally knows a skunk was around months after it is gone.
